Hanna, It's Exactly What You'd Expect *Spoilers*

Somehow I got roped into watching a movie that, under normal circumstances, would have skipped altogether. Hanna. Don't get me wrong. The previews were certainly intriguing. But in the end, there was no catch, twist, or big turn. The previews told the story...like, all of the important details.

Starting at the beginning, it was interesting seeing the full range of skills that Hanna had developed, but it was slow going and I found my mind wandering off somewhere else. Then she shot an elk at pointblank range. Back on track.

The timing and pace from here seemed to be really inconsistent. In addition to that, there were several details that caught my eye. For instance, hand guns do NOT have infinite ammo. I almost felt like some of the gun fight scenes were taking directly from Time Crisis. Really? You can fire that many rounds out of the gun? Not buying it. Another detail was the holding cell door had a bank vault locking mechanism that took a gazillion hours to open. That delay allows for Hanna's explosive escape from the facility. On the topic of the escape, there was a sequence which involved Hanna running through a large corridor in this CIA facility. For some reason, the producer thought that would be a great time to add in a weird light show. Flashing lights. Seriously. And the lights flashed in sequence with the overused electronic soundtrack.

Unfortunately, the plot is not that thick, nor is it unpredictable. The whole story line was contrived and totally boring. Jason Statham has played in movies with better plots than this one. That's saying something. Eric Bana's performance was tip top. The lead actress, Saoirse Ronan, was amazing and totally frightening at times. She snapped a women's neck like snapping a twig! Alas, these performances do not make up for a paper thin plot.

The soundtrack was interesting and under different circumstances (i.e. another movie) it would have fit very well. It seems like directors use Electronic music as a quick and easy fix to score films these days, but it's not always a match made in heaven.

I rated this film a solid 2.5 out 5. I most likely will not pay money to watch this again.
